When relationships/important connections involve hurt, loneliness and confusion this can lead to depression and anxiety. These can also lead to anger and further heart break. Sometimes the connection ends or may last in a very toxic way, with unresolved issues. Many also struggle with the relationship with themselves when they are trying to figure out this complicated life and identity. Some eat more or less then is healthy, while others get drunk or high to escape the situation or themselves. Some understand what got them here and what they want, others have no idea. In addition, these feelings may lead to isolation from supportive others and your goals. This struggle can be hard for others to understand who are not dealing with the same troubles, leaving you feeling very alone.

 

Relationships and connections with ourselves and important others are complicated and involve emotions, pasts, futures, differing goals and ways of life. Financial issues, navigating life tasks, friends, partners, parental responsibility, general disparities, different belief systems and other issues lead to clashes in all connections and sometimes with the world. Sometimes these issues create toxic habits and cycles, that cause further problems.

 

Due to this, connection or relationship difficulties are very common. People of all ages, races, spiritualities and orientations all experience difficult differences with family, friends, significant others, themselves, and the bigger society they live in. Life and people are complicated and heart aches often perpetuate themselves, without the awareness to turn it around.

 

The good news, however, is that with the help of a compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated therapist, you can learn healthy communication, confidence, self-care, to prioritize safety, understanding, motivation, identify positives and navigate yourself in society and in your connections.

 

In our sessions we’ll process your complex hurt mixed with caring feelings, where they might be coming from and where they might go. Then, we can tackle triggers that lead to fights and avoid them, approach them in healthy ways and be prepaid for them, so when they arise, we are ready to communicate well, process, assess and take care. We will also problem solve, to decrease negative aspects of your connections with yourself and others. You will learn healthy coping skills. This can help with turning negatives around (to build confidence, strength, and assertive communication), develop healthy supports and healthy habits, all of which will help motivate you and give you the tools you need to lead you to healthy connections. Healthy distractions can take you away when you need a break, without having to engage in unhealthy escapism. In talking through these issues, we will look at your strengths and empower you. We will also look to improve communication, understanding, realize your identity and your relationship with your world. We’ll seek to identify the important differences between standards and expectations. We’ll celebrate your accomplishments and keep you motivated, to keep moving forward.
